# Comfac Robotics — LeROBOT Project

This repository holds Comfac Global Group's (CGG) robotics initiative, split into two tracks:

1. **LeROBOT / Japanese Robot Refurbishment** — sourcing orphaned Japanese industrial robot arms (arm-only / no-controller units) and reviving them on an open-source control, simulation, and AI stack.
2. **Autonomous Small Vehicle** — a compact AVR (autonomous vehicle/robotics) test platform used to develop navigation, perception, and control algorithms before they are scaled up.

## Track 1: LeROBOT — Open-Source Refurbishment of Japanese Industrial Robots

The project targets "orphaned" robot arms retiring from Japanese factories because their proprietary controllers, software licenses, or OEM support have expired. The mechanical arms still have decades of useful life; CGG replaces the proprietary brain with an open-source stack.

Core technologies:

- **Digital twin & simulation:** Godot Engine (with URDF/DH parameter export)
- **AI / robot learning:** [Hugging Face LeRobot](https://huggingface.co/docs/lerobot) — policy training, datasets, sim-to-real
- **Real-time controller:** Xilinx Zynq-7020 FPGA/ARM SoC (Zybo Z7-20 reference)
- **Servo drives:** [STMBL](https://github.com/rene-dev/stmbl) (industrial AC servo) and/or ODrive
- **PCB fabrication:** KiCad → JLCPCB / PCBWay
- **Mechanical work:** Cornersteel Systems Corporation (CSC)
- **Talent pipeline:** Partner schools and a published open-source curriculum

### Key Documents

| File | Format | Summary |
|------|--------|---------|
| `cgg_robot_refurbishment_report_v2.docx` | Word + `.md` extract | Full execution plan: sourcing from Yahoo Auctions Japan, shipping/logistics, controller architecture, servo-drive selection, Godot/LeRobot workflow, safety/liability, two-year budget, and action items. |
| `Cobot Procurement Guide for Furniture CNC Automation.pptx` | PowerPoint + `.md` extract | Staff toolkit for evaluating Shenzhen robot consultants and selecting a 10–12 kg collaborative robot for furniture CNC loading/unloading. |
| `Cobot Factory Operations_ Payback Analysis & Labor Market Impact.pptx` | PowerPoint + `.md` extract | Financial model for Philippine manufacturing: CNC cost revolution, Chinese cobot/AMR benchmarks, payback analysis, and labor-market impact. |
| `Cobots & AMRs_ Global Market Landscape and Vietnam Factory Benchmark.pptx` | PowerPoint + `.md` extract | 2026 global cobot/AMR landscape, tiered vendor comparison, and Vietnam factory ecosystem benchmark versus the Philippines. |
| `CGG_Agentic_Engineering_Stack.pptx` | PowerPoint | Existing CGG engineering-stack overview. |
| `cost_vs_capability_robotics_stacks.svg` | SVG | Existing cost-vs-capability robotics comparison graphic. |

## Track 2: Autonomous Small Vehicle (AVR Test Platform)

A small autonomous vehicle is maintained as a low-risk testbed for AVR algorithms — navigation, SLAM, sensor fusion, obstacle avoidance, and control loops. Work done on this platform feeds back into the broader CGG robotics capability and partner-school curriculum.

*(Hardware details, CAD, and firmware for the small vehicle will be added as the track matures.)*

## Repository Status

- **Local path:** `work/comfac-robotics`
- **Forgejo / citfj remote:** Not yet created on `git.comfac-it.net`. Current directory is part of the root `opencode260220` workspace repo.
- **Visibility target:** Public once pushed to `citfj`.

## Quick Navigation

- Readable text extracts are saved alongside each `.docx`/`.pptx` as `.md` files for searchability.
- Source documents remain in their original Office formats for formal circulation.

## License / Sharing

Project artifacts are intended to be published as open-source modules (controller firmware, PCB designs, digital-twin models, LeRobot datasets, curricula). Specific licenses are TBD per module.
